Description
The exceptionally fine weather conditions in September allowed the abundant crops of grapes to ripen beautifully. So between 23 September and 13 October, some very fine grapes in excellent conditions of health were harvested. The Pinot Noir wines are fruity and full-bodied; the Chardonnay wines show a lot of distinction, and the Pinots Meunier wines add a touch of gourmandise.
The Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2004 has a luminous, brilliant gold colour. The fine bubbles rise delicately, forming a chain of little beads before gently disappearing.
The initial bouquet of Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2004 is elegant, opening on to aromas of crunchy fresh fruit (bush peach), citrus fruit and a mineral touch that comes from our chalky soils. The notes of violet and lilac are reminiscent of spring fragrances, and later on, notes of a more “bready” style, (hazelnut, crystallised quince, fresh butter) gradually take over.
Salty parmesan, pasta salads, sea food, oysters, shrimps, light fishes and antipasti.
92 Points: “tightly knit, focused by racy acidity and a streak of minerality, this offers subtle notes of white peach, anise, biscuit and kumquat. The refined finish echoes a smoky note. Drink now through 2022” Wine Spectator, December 2012
